The morning fog is clearing as several Gresley Pacifics head north. The Flying Scotsman train left King's Cross for Edinburgh at 10 am. It ran non-stop in the summer months taking about seven and a half hours. Later in the 1930s the streamlined A4 class (as seen in the Forth Bridge painting) took over from the A1s and A3s seen here.
